Acupuncture and pregnancy

We find that acupuncture can be especially useful at all stages of pregnancy. We recommend that most mothers-to-be consider having it every four to six weeks or so as part of a maintenance programme for promoting well-being during pregnancy. Research suggests that it may help to improve the blood flow to the uterus and help to boost your energy levels too. Research suggests it may be good for relieving stress as well (stress isn't good good for you or your baby), and to relieve some of the more common ailments of pregnancy like nausea, fatigue or backache.

There's plenty it can do in the last few weeks of pregnancy too in helping to prepare you for the birth. For example, it can help to induce labour, or to turn breech babies, as well as to help with pain relief during the birth itself. We encourage women to come to us on a weekly basis from 36 weeks onwards.

As you would expect, all our practitioners are specialists in its use for all aspects of managing the reproductive process and tend to have far more experience in the area than those who have general practices.

Acupuncture and all Our Other Complementary Therapies Can be Booked Individually as Well as Part of a Programme of Care

Acupuncture, along with all the other complementary services we offer at the Clinic, can be accessed on a one-off, ad hoc basis, as well as part of a more co-ordinated programme of support. The choice of how to use us is entirely yours. But however much or little that may be, you'll always have the reassurance of knowing that your care is being looked at in the round and that other specialists are at hand should you want or need them.

If you would like to book an acupuncture session or sessions please give our reception a call and let them know the particular purpose you have in mind; they will be delighted to help. Click on "Book a consultation, treatment or class" for details of how to get in touch.
