Just given birth?
Once you've given
birth you'll probably feel elated, proud and extremely relieved. After the initial excitement you'll probably feel pretty exhausted too. The first few weeks of motherhood are a physical and emotional roller-coaster, particularly if this is your first time.
Reductions in NHS Support
In our experience there are a number of areas where you might appreciate a little help and advice as the weeks progress.
However, in recent years, due to changes in NHS policy and a shortage of midwives, women receive significantly fewer post-natal visits than was once the case. As a result, new mothers can often find themselves struggling needlessly with breast-feeding problems, sleep issues and the transition into motherhood. Without the right guidance and advice, they can easily neglect their own welfare too, impeding their own recovery as well as their enjoyment of those precious early weeks with their child.
Zita West Midwives - Home Service
But don't worry - with the launch of our new "Home Service", expert help is now always at hand - and all in the convenience and comfort of your own home. We have designed our "Home Service" to be as flexible as possible. Home visits can be arranged at almost any time to suit you, including weekends and evenings.
The support we offer is a mix of good old-fashioned midwifery alongside the most up-to-date teaching and practice in mother-and-baby care.
This unique service is designed to supplement the care provided by NHS midwives, GPs and obstetricians and is available throughout the Greater London area.
Our team of highly experienced midwives and breast-feeding consultants can provide specialized care ranging from a one-off consultation to a comprehensive package. The choice, as always, is yours.
How We Can Help
Our new "Home Service" can be accessed at any point following the
birth of your baby (though you might like to have the reassurance that comes from knowing that you have fixed some sessions in advance). We offer:
* Post-natal health-check for mother and baby
* Breast-feeding advice and support. Including how to resolve problems such as difficulty in latching, reduced milk supply, sore nipples and getting breast-feeding established
* Nutritional advice for the post-natal period
* Teaching baby skills such as bathing, baby
massage and settling your baby
* Advice on parenting skills and reassurance that you are doing the right thing
* Advice on fitness and
exercise and how to get back to your "pre-pregnancy you!"
* Help in understanding the emotional changes involved in becoming a mother, in particular if you feel that you might be suffering from post-natal blues or
depression
* Help in understanding your baby's needs
