Breast-feeding Advice

For some, breast-feeding comes easily but for many others it is a learnt skill, and one that is easier to learn with good support and advice. Irrespective of whether you want to breast-feed for six weeks or two years, getting off to a good start helps to avoid problems like mastitis and cracked nipples – which can make feeding so difficult, but can be avoided with good positioning.

A session with one of our Zita West midwives is usually sufficient to set you off in the right direction, or to help you overcome any specific difficulties you may be experiencing. Support provided can also include: establishing feeding, how to express and store breast-milk and when it’s OK to introduce bottles, etc. And, of course, we are always available on the 'phone should additional questions or issues arise.
