Vital Essence 1: Elevating Pregnancy Support with Our Enhanced Formula
Zita West products have been supporting individuals and couples throughout their fertility and pregnancy journey for over 20 years. We believe that continual improvement supported by the latest clinical research, as well as real-life experience and feedback from customers is vital to ensure you and your growing infant receive the best possible nutrition to support your wellbeing and optimise their first 1000 days.
We are thrilled to announce an exciting formulation update to our pregnancy range.
Reduced capsule intake
One major change we've implemented is reducing the capsule intake from 3 capsules to 2 capsules. We understand the challenges many mothers face, especially those dealing with morning sickness. Our aim is to simplify your routine while ensuring you still receive the optimal dosage of essential nutrients, in a high-quality supplement.
In our commitment to provide the best care for you and your growing baby, we’ve taken this opportunity to streamline our range. This ensures that you receive the most crucial vitamins and minerals in the right doses at each unique stage of your fertility journey. Each trimester brings a particular set of needs and challenges for both Mum and baby. During the first trimester, certain nutrients are important for the development and differentiation of various organs, whereas later in pregnancy certain nutrients play a significant role in overall foetal growth as well as brain development.
Our Vital Essence range targets the crucial nutrients at each stage.
Key nutrients during the first trimester
Now, let’s dive into the vital nutrients during the first trimester.
Folic Acid: Shields against neural tube defects, crucial during the early stages of neural tube formation. We use the active form of folic acid, called folate. Unlike folic acid, folate is active and does not need to be converted before use in the body. Therefore, it’s more effective at raising levels of folate in the body. Each serving (2 capsules) of Vital Essence 1 provides the NHS-recommended intake of Folic acid, in the active form of Folate.
Iron: Ensures proper oxygen supply to your growing baby, supporting overall development. Vital Essence 1 also provides Vitamin C which helps the body absorb iron.
Calcium and Vitamin D: These two nutrients work hand in hand to lay the foundation for strong bones and teeth.
Choline: Choline has been recognised as a 'brain-building' nutrient. Plays a vital role in several processes of baby development including tissue expansion and brain development.
Vitamin B6: Morning sickness is common for many people during the first trimester. Vitamin B6 supports the body's metabolism and can help reduce nausea in early pregnancy.
Vitamin B12: As the baby’s nervous system is starting to develop, adequate intake of Vitamin B12 is essential as it supports brain and nervous system development and is needed to absorb folate and choline.
Iodine: Iodine is an essential component of thyroid hormones, particularly thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). These hormones are crucial for the development of the baby's brain and nervous system.
Vital Essence 1 prioritises these key nutrients, ensuring you are receiving an optimal dosage in each serving (2 capsules).
Do I need anything else aside from Vital Essence 1?
Alongside Vital Essence 1, we also recommend the following supplements to further support your journey:
Vital DHA: Omega-3 fish oil provides the essential fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Omega-3, particularly DHA, plays a pivotal role in supporting foetal brain and eye development. Its benefits also extend to the mother, helping support mood and overall cognitive function. Vital DHA has been molecularly distilled so it is free of all known contaminates and heavy metals, including mercury.
Vitamin D: Vitamin D is crucial for bone health and immune support. Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent in the UK, especially during winter when we have to rely on supplementation. Our Vitamin D spray works as a booster to ensure you have optimal levels throughout pregnancy.
Psyllium husk: During pregnancy, there are several changes that occur in the gut microbiome to facilitate the growth of the foetus. Psyllium husk is a natural fibre that can aid in maintaining gut health and easing constipation during pregnancy.
So you have one less thing to worry about during your pregnancy journey, we’ve put together a Newly Pregnant Trimester 1 Support Pack which contains all the above nutrients we recommend to support both you and baby during the first trimester.
We understand that every pregnancy journey is unique, and we recognise the need for additional support. Zita West Products offers several additional nutrients that can be added seamlessly into your supplement routine. Including Inositol & Folate for those who are at higher risk of gestational diabetes, NAC for high-risk pregnancies and Folate for those who require a higher dose.
At Zita West Products, we're dedicated to empowering you with a comprehensive approach to prenatal care, delivering the nutrients you need for a healthy and vibrant pregnancy journey.
Before incorporating any supplements into your routine, it is crucial to consult with your healthcare practitioner. They can provide personalised advice based on your individual health status, potential interactions with medications, and specific needs.
