Antioxidant Support

Eggs and sperm are particularly sensitive to oxidative stress, which can be raised by age, smoking, pollution, poor sleep and stress. Antioxidants help protect cells from this damage, and because eggs mature over the 90 day egg maturation window and sperm follow a 74 day development cycle, the months before conception are a key time to support them.

This collection brings together our antioxidant supplements for women and men. Vitamin C and Vitamin E both contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Vitafem Boost and Vitamen Boost are designed to be taken alongside Vitafem and Vitamen, Vitaseed Pro is an antioxidant powder for men, and Kaneka Ubiquinol CoQ10, Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) and NAC complete the range. If you are unsure which to combine, book a free 1:1 product consultation with our team.

Frequently asked questions

Why are antioxidants important when trying to conceive?

Eggs and sperm are vulnerable to oxidative stress, an imbalance between free radicals and the body's antioxidant defences, and this tends to increase with age. Antioxidant nutrients such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Selenium contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, which is why they feature in many preconception routines for both partners. Our guide to the top 10 antioxidants for sperm health explains more.

Which antioxidant supplement is right for me?

As a guide:

• Women: Vitafem Boost alongside Vitafem, particularly from age 35, with Kaneka Ubiquinol CoQ10 if you are focusing on egg quality

• Men: Vitamen Boost alongside Vitamen, or Vitaseed Pro for a broader antioxidant blend

• Both partners: Vitamin C, Vitamin E, ALA and NAC can be added for extra support

Can I take more than one antioxidant supplement?
Yes, many of our antioxidants are designed to be combined, and the Boost products are formulated to sit alongside Vitafem and Vitamen. Some ingredients appear in more than one product, for example ALA is in both Vitafem Boost and Vitamen Boost, so if you are taking several products, ask our team to check your routine. If you are on prescribed medication, speak to your GP first.
How long should I take antioxidants before trying to conceive?
We recommend at least three months, to cover the 90 day egg maturation window and the 74 day sperm development cycle, before trying to conceive or starting fertility treatment.
